a speed-centered, platforming adventure game about becoming the greatest runner in a galactic game show. play as Astro, a starry-eyed half-man, half-squid who is quick on his feet and traverse a plethora of colorful realms and help fulfill his dream of becoming the Realm Runner.

Floating Islands

     A spiraling archipelago floating high above a land unseen. Dense tangles of crimson-red foliage and lapis-tinged, overgrown roots populate the fractured islands; bodies of water spilling over into the sea of clouds below.

     The Floating Islands thrive off of allowing the player to forge their own path through the realm. The levels feature disconnected, gravity-defying chunks of land strewn about with plenty of platforming challenges and open areas for taking in the beautiful scenery. Springs, ground boosters, and swing poles pepper the playable area to help the player navigate through the precarious obstacles set up by the gameshow.

     For the first version of the level, Act 1, I created a whitebox that outlined all of the key elements and focal points that the player should experience. This also included rough enemy and level booster placement, as well as simple geometry to communicate the unique set pieces to our artist team.

This is a level design pipeline I put together for our production that took into consideration our time constraints and target points for a streamlined, refined level development process!
